Affordable housing

Need a little help to get on to the property ladder? There are many different schemes available to you.

  • LIFT – Low-cost Initiative for First Time Buyers
  • Help to Buy (Scotland) Affordable New Build Scheme
  • Shared equity
  • Shared ownership
  • Right to buy

The most popular are LIFT and Help to Buy, with many new build developers also offering their own financial assistance packages.

The LIFT scheme can help those on a low to middle income buy their first home, from the open market (it doesn’t have to be a new build), with the Scottish Government taking an equity stake in your property.

The Help to Buy (Scotland) Affordable New Build Scheme can help you with up to 15% of your deposit towards a new build home, which is repayable after an agreed amount of time.
