How to decorate your front door for Christmas

Christmas is a time of year when many homes look their best with all the sparkling lights, decorations and festive decor. Your front door is the first thing people see when they come to your home so here are our top tips to embrace the season and make a good first impression for buyers. 

Buy a wreath (or make your own!) 

Wreaths are one of the most popular home accessories at Christmas, especially on the front door. 

If you’re feeling creative, why not try making your own wreath? It's far more rewarding and much easier than you think. This method is a fun activity for all the family and is eco-friendly as no metal or plastic is needed – just twine, scissors and greenery foraged from your own garden or nearby woodland. 

To make the wreath, gather twigs together in a rough hoop shape and secure them into place using twine. To add a pop of colour, add baubles or flowers and secure them with the twine.  

Don't forget about lights  

Make your front door stand out with battery-powered lanterns or lights around your wreath. You could even frame your door using strings of Christmas lights for a really festive look. 

Remember the path leading up to your front door. If you want to illuminate your driveway, use some smaller lights that will make your entrance stand out without taking attention away from your front door.

Consider mini-Christmas trees 

Christmas trees aren’t just for inside the home. A pre-lit potted Christmas tree is an easy way to add festive cheer in front of your home.
